Although you can use either, we recommend QB Online for the following reasons:

1. Portability- The online product can be accessed from anywhere as opposed to the desktop version that is basically loaded on your PC or laptop and that you need to use a Citrix type app to remotely access.

2. Backup - You will always have a back up with the online version but with the desktop version you must take care of backing up yourself with something like Carbonite.

3. Accountant Access - Easiest with the online version although you can accomplish with the desktop if you have Citrix or if you take a back up of all your files on a memory stick and provide it to your accountant.

4. Upgraded Product - The online version gets automatically upgraded whereas the desktop version you typically have to pay for an upgrade.

5. Payroll - You can process payroll with either type, with the online version you have Intuits payroll which is an embedded into the online application.

Either product will work, all of our new masters are using QuickBooks online.
